Learning and sharing ideas in daytime workshops on the University of Toronto campusThe Academy is a centre for intellectually curious adults who are interested in exploring and understanding the world around them. The principal focus is a series of some 40 Workshops in current affairs, the arts, sciences and social sciences. All workshops are facilitated by members and all classes are conducted by members who research and then make presentations on topics of interest. Workshops run from September to April and generally meet for two hours every other week. In addition to the workshops, the Academy also offers a series of Wednesday Forums during the academic term, followed by a series of Spring Talks. These are lectures by senior academics, writers, and acknowledged experts in wide-ranging fields. The social side of the Academy is met by the popular program of Spring, Summer and Fall Walks and by lunches, picnics and other gatherings. The Academy is an independent volunteer-run organization whose members have been drawn by the peer-learning model and by the opportunity to share in the governance of the Academy. The Academy is also a member of the Third Age Network, an association of similar lifelong learning groups in Ontario Our collaboration with the University of Toronto
